National Fentanyl Awareness Day
National Fentanyl Awareness Day
National Fentanyl Awareness Day
National Fentanyl Awareness Day is on August 21st. Fentanyl is the number one killer of teenagers in our country. Fentanyl deaths for the ages of 5 to 14 year olds have increased 1400% since 2021. And 22 of or students are dieing daily from this deadly poison according the Families Against Fentanyl 2023 statistics. As educators, you are likely already aware of the growing fentanyl crisis impacting your area, and communities across the nation. Despite ongoing efforts, the DEA’s recent findings are stark: over 79M+ illicit pills were seized in 2023, with a staggering 70% containing lethal fentanyl doses. 42 % of those pills have enough fentanyl to kill someone. Most students are unaware of this dangerous poison in products marketed to them on their cell phones though social sites like Snapchat and TikTok. This highlights the vital need for education and prevention, particularly among our youth. Community by community education is the key to keeping our students and their families alive.
Here’s how you can bring this vital conversation into your classroom:

“I never realized how dangerous drugs could be until Sold Out told us about Fentanyl. I now know that drugs can be a dangerous thing and you shouldn’t trust people telling you to take a random drug that they claim is something helpful because it may as well be Fentanyl.”
